New vehicle registrations in Pune saw a significant decline of 25.6% during the recent festive season, according to Pune Regional Transport Office data. Motor car registrations experienced the steepest fall at 46.1%, while two-wheeler registrations decreased by 12%. This overall dip is attributed to factors like reduced farming income and uncertain earnings, impacting purchasing decisions. However, electric vehicle registrations showed a contrasting trend, with a notable increase in electric car and motorcycle registrations, indicating a shift in consumer preference towards greener alternatives.
