India Calls For Urgent UNSC Reforms, Citing Post-WWII Structure
Times of India · world
India has urged for immediate reforms to the United Nations Security Council, stating its 80-year-old structure is inadequate for current global conflicts. Ambassador Harish Parvathaneni argued that the Council's composition must reflect contemporary realities, not just its post-World War II origins. He emphasized that the authority from an eighty-year-old victory cannot compensate for the legitimacy deficit of an unrepresentative body. Parvathaneni highlighted the under-representation of Asia-Pacific and Africa, noting that reform is an investment in a more trusted and stronger Council for all member states.
