Car Kills 8 Workers, Injures 12 During Water Break in Sangrur

A speeding car struck and killed eight workers and injured twelve others on Sunday afternoon near Lehragaga town in Punjab's Sangrur district. The vehicle first hit a motorcycle before ploughing into the labourers who were taking a water break. Five workers died instantly, with three more succumbing to their injuries in hospital. The injured are receiving treatment at Rajindra Hospital in Patiala. The incident led to protests by locals who alleged delayed ambulance response, prompting assurances of strict legal action for rash driving.

रविवार दोपहर पंजाब के संगरूर जिले में लहरागागा शहर के पास एक तेज रफ्तार कार ने आठ मजदूरों को कुचल दिया और बारह अन्य को घायल कर दिया। वाहन ने पहले एक मोटरसाइकिल को टक्कर मारी और फिर पानी के ब्रेक पर आराम कर रहे मजदूरों को रौंद दिया। पांच मजदूरों की मौके पर ही मौत हो गई, जबकि तीन ने अस्पताल में दम तोड़ दिया। घायलों का पटियाला के राजेंद्र अस्पताल में इलाज चल रहा है। इस घटना के बाद स्थानीय लोगों ने विरोध प्रदर्शन किया और एम्बुलेंस के देर से पहुंचने का आरोप लगाया, जिसके बाद तेज रफ्तार ड्राइविंग के खिलाफ सख्त कानूनी कार्रवाई का आश्वासन दिया गया।
