Woman Rescued After 20 Hours in Sea; Said She Wanted to Disembark

A 44-year-old woman from El Salvador was found alive in a lifebuoy after spending approximately 20 hours in the Ionian Sea. She had jumped from the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Odyssey of the Seas near Zakynthos, Greece. Rescuers were alerted to her desire to disembark. The dramatic rescue involved the Hellenic Coast Guard, a helicopter, and nearby vessels, including a cargo ship that spotted her. She received first aid and was taken to a Greek hospital for medical examinations.
