Former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores are likely to face new criminal charges in the United States. These charges stem from allegations that Americans detained in Venezuela were subjected to torture. A US official indicated the new charges could be filed as early as Thursday. Maduro and Flores are already in the US facing separate drug trafficking charges, to which they have pleaded not guilty. Their trial is scheduled to begin in June 2027.
