Former India opener Kris Srikkanth has strongly criticized the selection committee's decision to include Vipraj Nigam as a replacement for the injured Varun Chakaravarthy in the Asian Games squad. Srikkanth questioned Nigam's inclusion, citing his inconsistent IPL performance in 2026 after a promising debut in 2025. He also raised concerns about the exclusion of experienced players like Krunal Pandya, Rajat Patidar, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, emphasizing performance over age.
