Tyre Makers Seek Duty-Free Rubber Imports Amidst Rising Prices

TOI - Delhi · india

Indian tyre manufacturers are urging the government to permit temporary duty-free imports of natural rubber due to soaring prices and domestic supply shortages. Prices have reached Rs 300 per kg, a significant increase from previous averages, impacting production schedules. The Automotive Tyre Manufacturers’ Association (ATMA) proposed a Tariff Rate Quota limited to the supply shortfall. This measure aims to maintain uninterrupted production and manage rising procurement costs, which are exacerbated by global factors affecting other raw material prices.
