Tennis legend Venus Williams has suffered her 17th consecutive singles defeat on the WTA tour, losing in the opening round of the Hong Kong Open. The 46-year-old American was defeated in straight sets by fellow countrywoman Mary Stoiana, with scores of 6-2, 6-3. Williams, currently ranked 597, struggled with her serve throughout the match. Despite her singles struggles, Williams has found more success in doubles, recently reaching a semifinal and preparing for another doubles tournament. Her last singles victory was in July 2025.
