Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro appeared in a New York court, vehemently denying new torture allegations presented in a rewritten drug trafficking indictment. The charges accuse him and his wife, Cilia Flores, of leading a state-sponsored repression campaign that included torture of victims, three of whom were Americans. A judge entered a not-guilty plea on behalf of both Maduro and Flores. Maduro, who was captured in January, stated the accusations were false.
