Madras High Court Calls For Mandatory Property Attachment To Fight Corruption

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has emphasized the necessity of mandatory attachment and confiscation of properties acquired through corrupt means to effectively combat corruption. The court stated that the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, aims not only to punish offenders but also to prevent them from enjoying ill-gotten gains. Justice B. Pugalendhi highlighted that corruption should be treated more seriously than other offenses.
