A judicial commission investigating the Mundathikode fireworks tragedy has submitted its report, revealing that approximately 7,000 kg of explosives were stored at the unit. This quantity far exceeded the permitted limit of 15 kg. The commission also identified the extensive use of banned potassium chlorate as a primary cause for the explosion. Friction between chemicals amid high temperatures triggered the fire, leading to a massive blast that killed sixteen people and injured forty. The report was handed over to Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala.
