Secularism Means More Than State's Religion

Secularism's true meaning extends beyond the state having no religion. It signifies that a person's worth is not determined by their faith, but by their citizenship. The Constitution's preamble added 'secular' in 1976, but principles of equality and freedom of religion existed earlier. Nature, unaffected by human divisions, serves as a teacher of equality, with air, water, and sunlight benefiting all impartially. This fundamental equality is what secularism upholds for every citizen.

धर्मनिरपेक्षता का मतलब सिर्फ राज्य का कोई धर्म न होना नहीं है

धर्मनिरपेक्षता का असली मतलब सिर्फ इतना नहीं है कि राज्य का कोई धर्म न हो। इसका मतलब है कि किसी इंसान की कीमत उसके धर्म से नहीं, बल्कि उसकी नागरिकता से तय होती है। संविधान की प्रस्तावना में 1976 में 'धर्मनिरपेक्ष' शब्द जोड़ा गया था, लेकिन समानता और धर्म की स्वतंत्रता के सिद्धांत पहले से मौजूद थे। प्रकृति, जो इंसानी बंटवारों से अप्रभावित रहती है, समानता की शिक्षक है, क्योंकि हवा, पानी और धूप सभी को बिना किसी भेदभाव के लाभ पहुंचाते हैं। यही मौलिक समानता है जिसे धर्मनिरपेक्षता हर नागरिक के लिए बनाए रखती है।
