El Nino Won't Majorly Impact Crop Production: Chouhan

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that a current rainfall deficit of around 12% is unlikely to significantly impact agricultural production nationwide. Addressing a conference on the Rabi season, he assured that no major crisis is expected due to El Nino. The government has set a foodgrain production target of 373.93 million tonnes for 2026-27, a slight decrease from the previous year. An awareness campaign will also be launched to inform farmers about global market opportunities and export requirements.

केंद्रीय कृषि मंत्री शिवराज सिंह चोहन ने कहा कि देश में अभी करीब 12% बारिश की कमी है, लेकिन इससे देश भर में खेती-किसानी पर कोई खास असर पड़ने की उम्मीद नहीं है। रबी सीजन पर हुई एक कॉन्फ्रेंस में उन्होंने भरोसा दिलाया कि अल नीनो की वजह से कोई बड़ी मुश्किल नहीं आने वाली है। सरकार ने 2026-27 के लिए 373.93 मिलियन टन अनाज उत्पादन का लक्ष्य रखा है, जो पिछले साल से थोड़ा कम है। किसानों को ग्लोबल मार्केट के मौके और एक्सपोर्ट की ज़रूरतों के बारे में बताने के लिए एक जागरूकता अभियान भी चलाया जाएगा।
