Veteran pacer Mohammed Shami took four wickets for 30 runs in 17.3 overs to help Bengal bowl out Delhi for 240 on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy match. Despite humid conditions and gritty knocks from Hrithik Shokeen (56) and Ayush Doseja (45), Delhi's batting lineup struggled against Bengal's international pace attack. Akash Deep and Aamir Gani also contributed with three wickets each. Shami's experience proved crucial in dismantling the opposition batting order, setting Bengal up for a strong start in the tournament.
