Kerala Govt Seeks President's Return of Private Universities Bill

The Kerala government plans to present a resolution in the State Assembly next week, requesting the President to return the Kerala Private Universities Bill, 2025, for reconsideration. Higher Education Minister Roji M. John will likely introduce the resolution on Monday, seeking the Bill's return under Article 201 of the Constitution. The Bill, passed by the previous LDF government in March 2025, was referred to the President by the Governor in September 2025. The current UDF government has decided against proceeding with the Bill, which has not yet received presidential assent.
