Chhattisgarh Opens Indravati Tiger Reserve To Tourists After Four Decades

Hindustan Times · environment

Chhattisgarh has opened the Indravati Tiger Reserve in Bastar's Bijapur district to tourists, marking the first time in four decades that organised wildlife tourism is permitted in this remote area. The decision coincides with Chhattisgarh's statehood day and reflects a significant improvement in the security situation, allowing access to previously inaccessible regions. The reserve, established in 1983, is home to tigers, leopards, and wild buffaloes. Initially, a 33-km safari route in the buffer area will operate with four Gypsy vehicles, with plans to expand based on tourist response.
