The 2,700-square-foot Esperanza House, built during the Industrial Revolution, sits on half an acre and is a rare survivor of the city's historical architecture. The artist, Leonora Pierotti Thomas, who bought the home in 1979, was known for her love of the color purple, extending it to her belongings and even her poodle's fur.
