The United States has removed Syria from a list of countries banned from importing US weapons, allowing for case-by-case review of arms sales. This change to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) follows the Trump administration's efforts to strengthen ties with Damascus. The move comes after Syria's designation as a "state sponsor of terrorism" was lifted and plans to reopen the US embassy were announced.
