आजमगढ़ के अहिरौला इलाके के शंभुपुर गांव में देर रात हुए तिहरे हत्याकांड के बाद सन्नाटा छा गया। सुबह मुख्य आरोपी अरविंद सिंह पुलिस मुठभेड़ में मारा गया। गलियां पुलिस और मीडिया से भरी थीं, और गांव वालों पर कड़ी नजर रखी जा रही थी। आरोपी के साधारण घर और पैतृक रिवॉल्वर पर भी लोगों की नजर गई। उसकी मां और बचपन के दोस्त ने बताया कि भाई की 2018 में हत्या के बाद से वह अकेला रहने लगा था।
