The Hindu · india

Karnataka's Congress government alleges that lab tests reveal petrol sold in the state contains an ethanol blend higher than the permitted 20%, with some samples reaching 31%. Samples collected from various districts and tested by independent NABL-accredited labs showed higher percentages than those initially reported by oil companies. Minister Rizwan Arshad stated that 99% of India's vehicles are not designed for blends over 20%, potentially causing damage and financial loss to consumers. He demanded penalties for oil marketing companies exceeding the mandated blend.
