He stated that a student cannot appoint their examiner, emphasizing the need for an independent mechanism for appointing election commissioners. Reddy also called for similar reforms at the state level, arguing that Chief Ministers or ruling governments should not appoint State Election Commissioners.

वाईएसआरसीपी चीफ और आंध्र प्रदेश के पूर्व सीएम वाईएस जगन मोहन रेड्डी ने 2023 के उस कानून के लिए अपनी पार्टी के समर्थन पर पछतावा जताया है, जिसने मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त की नियुक्ति करने वाले पैनल से भारत के मुख्य न्यायाधीश को हटा दिया था। उन्होंने कहा कि एक छात्र अपने परीक्षक को नियुक्त नहीं कर सकता, और चुनाव आयुक्तों की नियुक्ति के लिए एक स्वतंत्र तंत्र की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया। रेड्डी ने राज्य स्तर पर भी इसी तरह के सुधारों का आह्वान किया, यह तर्क देते हुए कि मुख्यमंत्रियों या सत्तारूढ़ सरकारों को राज्य चुनाव आयुक्तों को नियुक्त नहीं करना चाहिए।
