A former senior US federal employee with top-secret clearance, David J. Rush, has pleaded guilty to defrauding the government of approximately $193.6 million. Rush created a fake classified program and fabricated government authorities to divert funds for personal gain. Prosecutors stated he used the money to acquire gold bars and directed about $145 million towards luxury real estate, watches, and vehicles. An FBI search of his home uncovered 298 gold bars, over $2.1 million in cash, and other valuables, leading to his guilty plea.
