Mumbai Civic Gardens To Use Ganesh Offerings

Mumbai's F-South ward has initiated a unique composting program, transforming floral waste from Ganesh Chaturthi into nourishment for local civic gardens. Nearly 25 large composting bins at St Xavier's ground are now filled with nirmalaya collected from 18 artificial immersion sites and dedicated handcarts. This initiative prevents floral offerings from mixing with general waste or polluting the sea. A microbial culture is being used to accelerate decomposition, with the compost expected to be ready in about a month for use as manure.
