People Film Accidents Instead of Helping, Raising Concerns Over Public Response
Times of India · interesting
A disturbing trend shows bystanders filming emergencies on smartphones rather than offering immediate assistance. While videos can serve as evidence, the pattern of crowds gathering and recording while injured individuals wait for help is concerning. In December 2025, two brothers injured in an accident on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway were eventually aided by police, not bystanders. Similarly, in August 2024, a man was injured in Ghaziabad, with onlookers filming instead of helping. This behaviour highlights a societal shift where documentation often precedes intervention, raising questions about civic responsibility in critical situations.
