Maharashtra Halves Orchestra Bar Licence Fee Hike After Hotel Pushback
Hindustan Times · business
The Maharashtra government has reduced the annual increase in licence renewal fees for orchestra bars from 10% to 5%. This decision follows pushback from the Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association, which had challenged the previous 10% hike and its retrospective implementation from January 1, 2018. The government will now implement the ₹2 lakh premises licence fee from January 2020 and has deferred the fee hike implementation. Concessions will also be granted for the Covid-19 period of 2020-2021, resolving issues that led to many bars not paying fees.
