Kerala HC Orders Sabarimala Board To Ensure Quality Standards For Prasadam Materials

The Kerala High Court has directed the Travancore Devaswom Board to ensure that materials supplied for Sabarimala's nivedhyam and prasadam meet quality standards and religious customs. This directive came while disposing of a petition alleging that halal-certified jaggery violated Hindu rituals and posed health risks. Although food safety tests found the jaggery satisfactory, the court advised the board to avoid symbols that could cause religious apprehension. The board must now include conditions in future e-tenders to prevent such issues and maintain temple traditions.

केरल हाई कोर्ट ने त्रावणकोर देवस्वम बोर्ड को निर्देश दिया है कि सबरीमाला के निवेद्यम और प्रसाद के लिए आपूर्ति की जाने वाली सामग्री गुणवत्ता मानकों और धार्मिक रीति-रिवाजों को पूरा करे। यह निर्देश एक याचिका का निपटारा करते हुए आया, जिसमें आरोप लगाया गया था कि हलाल-प्रमाणित गुड़ हिंदू रीति-रिवाजों का उल्लंघन करता है और स्वास्थ्य जोखिम पैदा करता है। हालांकि खाद्य सुरक्षा परीक्षणों में गुड़ संतोषजनक पाया गया, अदालत ने बोर्ड को ऐसे प्रतीकों से बचने की सलाह दी जिनसे धार्मिक आशंकाएं पैदा हो सकती हैं। बोर्ड को अब भविष्य के ई-टेंडरों में ऐसी समस्याओं को रोकने और मंदिर की परंपराओं को बनाए रखने के लिए शर्तें शामिल करनी होंगी।
