A housing complex in Kochi, built under the LIFE Mission, may be demolished due to severe structural defects. Chief Minister V D Satheesan stated that wastewater leaks into lower apartments, making bathrooms unhygienic. Repairing the damage is estimated to cost more than building anew, raising questions about the wastage of public funds. The Rs 14.6-crore project was meant to house 78 low-income families, who have since faced constant issues like leaking ceilings and damp walls.

कोच्चि में LIFE मिशन के तहत बना एक हाउसिंग कॉम्प्लेक्स गंभीर संरचनात्मक खामियों के कारण गिराया जा सकता है। मुख्यमंत्री वी डी सतीशसन ने कहा कि निचले फ्लैटों में सीवेज का पानी रिस रहा है, जिससे बाथरूम अस्वास्थ्यकर हो गए हैं। नुकसान की मरम्मत की लागत नए सिरे से बनाने से ज़्यादा बताई जा रही है, जिससे सार्वजनिक धन की बर्बादी पर सवाल उठ रहे हैं। 14.6 करोड़ रुपये की इस परियोजना का मकसद 78 निम्न-आय वाले परिवारों को घर देना था, जिन्हें तब से छत से पानी टपकने और दीवारों में सीलन जैसी लगातार समस्याओं का सामना करना पड़ रहा है।
