Congress MP Slams PM Internship Scheme, Cites Low Participation

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president Manickam Tagore has criticised the Union government's PMIS. He stated that the scheme failed to provide meaningful skill training, citing a significant drop in applications from 6.21 lakh to 3.50 lakh across three rounds. Tagore also highlighted low participation rates, with only around 7-9.5% of available opportunities being filled. He alleged the government diluted the scheme by reducing its duration and increasing the stipend without addressing core issues, leading to graduates performing menial tasks instead of receiving professional training.
