Durga Puja Organisers Told Not To Dump Waste In Water Bodies

Times of India · environment

JSPCB has directed Durga Puja organisers to adopt eco-friendly practices and avoid dumping non-degradable waste into rivers and ponds. Organisers must use natural clay idols and segregate waste like flowers and clothes before immersion. Water quality will be monitored at immersion sites to assess pollution levels. Municipal bodies are tasked with disposing of non-biodegradable waste in designated pits away from water bodies and cleaning sites within 24 hours. Jamshedpur has 16 designated immersion ghats.
