Saudi Arabia's Early Warning System Went Silent Amid Houthi Attacks

Times of India · world

Saudi Arabia ceased issuing public warnings for imminent military attacks days before deadly strikes hit Riyadh airport, killing at least 18 and wounding over 300. The national early warning system, which began sending alerts in May, stopped as Houthi attacks intensified. Officials cited citizen complaints about being woken up as the reason for the disruption. Western embassies continued issuing their own internal alerts to staff, compiled from various intelligence sources, though they too received no warning before the latest airport strike.
