Pollution Doesn't Directly Cause Diabetes, But Lifestyle Changes Can Worsen It

Pollution does not directly cause diabetes, but lifestyle changes associated with high pollution levels can negatively impact blood sugar control. According to Dr. Rajesh Khadgawat from AIIMS, reduced physical activity due to avoiding outdoor walks can lead to weight gain, making diabetes management difficult. Spending more time indoors may also alter eating habits, with frequent snacking contributing to weight gain and affecting blood sugar. While avoiding polluted air is important, maintaining indoor physical activity and regular meal times is crucial for those with or at risk of diabetes.
