Police in Bijnor have arrested four individuals for allegedly extorting money from vehicle owners by exploiting information about overdue loan installments. The accused used a repo app to identify defaulters, then threatened to repossess their vehicles unless a demanded sum was paid. In one incident, a victim was robbed of cash and his motorcycle after resisting demands. The arrested men have been charged under various sections of the BNS. Investigations are ongoing to determine the role of a finance agency in Haridwar, where seized vehicles were reportedly deposited.
