Customs officials at Trichy airport have arrested a couple from Devakottai for allegedly attempting to smuggle 1.6kg of gold valued at Rs 2.26 crore. The couple arrived on a flight from Kuala Lumpur and had concealed the gold in their innerwear and a handbag. In a separate incident, a passenger arriving from Colombo was caught with liquid gold worth Rs 28.12 lakh hidden in perfume bottles. Both suspects have been arrested under the Customs Act and remanded to judicial custody, with investigations ongoing.

तिरुचिरापल्ली एयरपोर्ट पर कस्टम अधिकारियों ने देवकोट्टई के एक जोड़े को 2.26 करोड़ रुपये के 1.6 किलोग्राम सोने की तस्करी की कोशिश के आरोप में गिरफ्तार किया है। यह जोड़ा कुआलालंपुर से आई फ्लाइट से आया था और उसने सोने को अपने अंडरवियर और एक हैंडबैग में छिपा रखा था। एक अलग घटना में, कोलंबो से आ रहे एक यात्री को परफ्यूम की बोतलों में छिपाकर लाए गए 28.12 लाख रुपये के लिक्विड गोल्ड के साथ पकड़ा गया। दोनों संदिग्धों को कस्टम एक्ट के तहत गिरफ्तार कर न्यायिक हिरासत में भेज दिया गया है और जांच जारी है।
