Odisha's Koraput district administration has contested Andhra Pradesh's claim of 40% voter turnout in the disputed Kotia region during recent panchayat elections. The Koraput collector stated that only about 10% of eligible voters from Kotia likely participated, as the polling booth served multiple villages, including those in Andhra Pradesh. Odisha officials emphasized their success in preventing Andhra Pradesh from establishing a polling booth within Kotia and are intensifying development efforts in the region. They are also preparing for upcoming sarpanch elections announced by Andhra Pradesh in the disputed area.
