Jitiya Vrat Katha: Women Read Stories of Eagle and Fox for Long Life of Children

TV9 Hindi · spirituality

The Jitiya Vrat, also known as Jivitputrika Vrat, is observed by mothers for the long life, good health, and well-being of their children. This difficult fast, often observed for 36 hours without water, is particularly significant in Bihar, Jharkhand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, and Nepal's Terai-Madhhesh regions. The observance begins on the seventh day of Ashwin's dark fortnight and concludes on the ninth day. Two main stories are associated with the fast: one about the selfless sacrifice of Gandharvaraj Jimutavahana and another about an eagle and a fox.
