The Hindu · india
The Union Health Ministry has proposed adding 10 new inland container depots, a Special Economic Zone, and an international airport to India's list of authorised import gateways for drugs, medical devices, and cosmetics. This amendment to Rule 43A of the Drugs Rules, 1945, aims to simplify import operations and reduce inland transportation distances. The proposed locations include facilities in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Telangana, and Karnataka. Expanding the network is expected to allow importers to clear consignments closer to their facilities, optimising logistics and minimising delays.
