Coimbatore Corporation to Rejuvenate Waterbodies for Rainwater Harvesting

The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation is planning to rejuvenate approximately 30 identified waterbodies as part of its rainwater harvesting initiatives. Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja stated that major tanks are already at full storage. A two-day consultative meeting with NGOs and environmental groups focused on reviving defunct waterbodies and improving water conservation. The corporation has inspected 1.58 lakh properties, finding 88,000 with functional rainwater harvesting systems, while 50,000 properties will receive notices for failing to implement them. The assessment aims to cover all properties within the corporation limits.

कोयंबटूर सिटी म्युनिसिपल कॉर्पोरेशन अपनी बारिश के पानी को जमा करने की पहलों के तहत लगभग 30 पहचाने गए जल निकायों को फिर से जीवंत करने की योजना बना रहा है। कमिश्नर कट्टा रवि तेजा ने कहा कि प्रमुख टैंक पहले से ही पूरी क्षमता पर हैं। गैर-सरकारी संगठनों और पर्यावरण समूहों के साथ दो दिवसीय परामर्श बैठक में निष्क्रिय जल निकायों को पुनर्जीवित करने और जल संरक्षण में सुधार पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया गया। निगम ने 1.58 लाख संपत्तियों का निरीक्षण किया है, जिसमें 88,000 में कार्यात्मक बारिश जल संचयन प्रणाली पाई गई है, जबकि 50,000 संपत्तियों को उन्हें लागू करने में विफल रहने के लिए नोटिस प्राप्त होंगे।
