Tamil Nadu's Commercial Taxes Department has renamed roving squads to flying squads, which will now intercept vehicles only under the instruction of the Joint Commissioner (Intelligence). This change, pending since GST introduction, aims to reduce harassment and unnecessary delays for transporters. Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have welcomed the move, stating it will boost the ease of doing business and increase government revenue. Industry bodies believe this will ensure a seamless flow of goods across the state, benefiting trade and industry significantly.
