SBI Software Blocks Christians From Selecting Scheduled Tribe Option in Arunachal

The Hindu · india

The Arunachal Christian Forum (ACF) has alleged that State Bank of India's digital banking software unfairly prevents Christians from selecting the Scheduled Tribe (ST) option. The software reportedly defaults to 'General' category for Christian applicants, irrespective of their constitutional tribal status. The ACF argues this is discriminatory, as tribal status in Arunachal Pradesh is not linked to religion. They have demanded technical corrections within 15 days, warning of protests if the issue is not resolved.
