Libya's eastern parliament has withdrawn its objection to a maritime agreement with Turkiye, which demarcates boundaries in the Mediterranean Sea. This deal was initially signed by the internationally recognized Government of National Unity seven years ago. The ratification has reignited a dispute over exploring a potentially gas-rich area, drawing swift objections from Greece, Cyprus, and Egypt. Athens has referred the issue to the UN Security Council, asserting that Libya and Turkiye are disregarding their sovereign rights in the region.
