Indian Markets Decline Amid Rising Oil and Bond
Business Standard Markets · stocks
India's benchmark equity indices, Nifty and Sensex, extended their decline on Monday, mirroring Asian markets. Rising crude oil prices, a spike in global bond yields, and geopolitical challenges in West Asia weighed heavily on investor sentiment. The Nifty fell 1.56 per cent to 22,780.25, its lowest level in five months, with the NSE's market capitalisation dropping below $5 trillion to $4.89 trillion. Banks were significantly impacted as bond yields surged, contributing to heightened market caution.
