India's communications ministry has stated that its authorisation framework for satellite communication services is fair and non-discriminatory. The ministry clarified that security assessments are underway for all three licensees, including Starlink, and that preferential clearance for any single operator would contradict the regulatory environment. This statement comes after Elon Musk alleged that "certain oligarchs" were blocking Starlink's entry into India. All three applicants, Starlink, Eutelsat OneWeb, and Jio Satellite Communications, have received licenses but are awaiting security clearances before they can proceed with spectrum assignment and commercial launch.
