Assam District on Alert After Nagaland Landslide Blocks River Three Months After Deluge
The Hindu · india
Assam's Sivasagar district is on alert following a landslide upstream of the Dikhow river in Nagaland. This is the same river that caused significant devastation in Assam in June, leading to nearly 50 deaths. The landslide, occurring between Yongshei and Yaongyimsen, has blocked approximately 80% of the Dikhow river's flow. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and coordinating with Nagaland officials to prevent any potential disaster. Residents in downstream villages, particularly in Bihubar, have been advised to remain vigilant and prepared for emergencies.
