Business Standard · business

The Indian government has increased the price ceiling for natural gas from difficult fields, including Reliance Industries and BP's KG-D6 block, to $9.89 per MMBtu for the period October 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027. This is an increase from the previous $8.90 ceiling. However, the price cap for gas produced from legacy fields of ONGC and Oil India Ltd has been maintained at $7 per MMBtu. This policy aims to incentivize the development of challenging offshore gas resources while keeping prices stable for essential sectors.
