The Delhi government has distributed 28,000 bicycles to Class IX girl students under the Vidya Vahini Scheme as of, with a goal to reach 40,000 by the end of the month. This Rs 90-crore scheme aims to provide bicycles to 1.3 lakh Class IX girl students in government schools to improve their mobility and school attendance. Education Minister Ashish Sood stated the initiative is intended to foster self-reliance and empowerment among girls, viewing the bicycle as a 'wheel of empowerment'.

दिल्ली सरकार ने विद्या वाहिनी योजना के तहत कक्षा 9 की छात्राओं को अब तक 28,000 साइकिलें बांटी हैं, जिसका लक्ष्य महीने के अंत तक 40,000 तक पहुंचना है। इस 90 करोड़ रुपये की योजना का उद्देश्य सरकारी स्कूलों में 1.3 लाख कक्षा 9 की छात्राओं को साइकिलें प्रदान करना है ताकि उनकी आवाजाही और स्कूल में उपस्थिति में सुधार हो सके। शिक्षा मंत्री आशीष सूद ने कहा कि इस पहल का उद्देश्य लड़कियों के बीच आत्मनिर्भरता और सशक्तिकरण को बढ़ावा देना है, साइकिल को 'सशक्तिकरण का पहिया' मानते हुए।
