He stated that two-thirds of founder CEOs do not manage succession effectively. Sengupta, drawing on interviews for his book, highlighted that founders often possess a unique ability to balance long-term vision with daily operational focus. He also emphasized the need to balance innovation with preserving core company values while modernizing practices.

मैकिन्से एंड कंपनी के लेखक और सीनियर पार्टनर जॉयदीप सेनगुप्ता ने कहा है कि कंपनियों को लंबे समय तक चलाने के लिए उत्तराधिकार की योजना बनाना संस्थापकों के लिए एक बड़ी चुनौती है। उन्होंने बताया कि दो-तिहाई संस्थापक सीईओ उत्तराधिकार का प्रभावी ढंग से प्रबंधन नहीं कर पाते हैं। अपनी किताब के लिए किए गए इंटरव्यू के आधार पर सेनगुप्ता ने कहा कि संस्थापकों में अक्सर लंबी अवधि की सोच और रोज़मर्रा के काम पर ध्यान केंद्रित करने की अनोखी क्षमता होती है। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि कंपनी के मूल मूल्यों को बनाए रखते हुए नवाचार को आधुनिक तरीकों से संतुलित करने की आवश्यकता है।
