Over 100 Mills Begin Sugar Production For 2026-27 Season

As many as 107 sugar mills have commenced sugarcane crushing for the marketing season that began on October 1, 2026, according to the Indian Sugar & Bio-Energy Manufacturers Association. Mills in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh have started operations. By October 25, 2026, sugar production reached approximately four lakh tonnes, a significant increase from the 0.6 lakh tonnes produced by the same date last year.
