Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge have strongly criticized the Delhi Police's detention of Ankita Bhandari's parents during an overnight protest at India Gate. The parents were demanding that BJP leader Dushyant Kumar Gautam's appointment as Sikkim Governor be halted pending a CBI investigation into Ankita's murder. Gandhi stated the government silences victims' voices, while Kharge called the detention "cowardice and insensitivity." The parents were released early Thursday morning. They warned of nationwide protests if Gautam's appointment is not canceled within 24 hours.

राहुल गांधी और मल्लिकार्जुन खड़गे ने इंडिया गेट पर रात भर चले विरोध प्रदर्शन के दौरान दिल्ली पुलिस द्वारा अंकिता भंडारी के माता-पिता को हिरासत में लिए जाने की कड़ी आलोचना की है। माता-पिता मांग कर रहे थे कि अंकिता की हत्या की सीबीआई जांच लंबित रहने तक भाजपा नेता दुष्यंत कुमार गौतम की सिक्किम के राज्यपाल के रूप में नियुक्ति रोकी जाए। गांधी ने कहा कि सरकार पीड़ितों की आवाज को दबाती है, जबकि खड़गे ने इस हिरासत को "कायरता और असंवेदनशीलता" करार दिया। माता-पिता को गुरुवार तड़के रिहा कर दिया गया। उन्होंने चेतावनी दी है कि अगर 24 घंटे के भीतर गौतम की नियुक्ति रद्द नहीं की गई तो देशव्यापी विरोध प्रदर्शन किया जाएगा।
