MCC Introduces New Cricket Laws to Reward Fielding Side More

Business Standard · sports

MCC has introduced new laws for cricket, effective October 1, aimed at restoring balance between bat and ball, which has increasingly favoured batters. MCC Head of Cricket Fraser Stewart stated that while bat sizes were reduced in 2017, batters continue to grow stronger and play more attacking cricket. A significant change in multi-day matches means a new batter must face remaining deliveries if a wicket falls on the last ball of a day's play, rewarding the fielding side.
