UPI Merchant Payments To Attract 0.4% Fee

India's government will introduce a 0.4% fee on UPI transactions exceeding Rs 2,000 made to merchants starting October 15. This move ends nearly six years of free UPI payments for such transactions. However, person-to-person payments and smaller transactions remain free for customers. Fintech stocks like Paytm saw initial jumps following the announcement, though some pared gains later. The fee aims to generate revenue from the merchant business.

अक्टूबर से, ₹2,000 से ज़्यादा के UPI ट्रांज़ैक्शन पर मर्चेंट को 0.4% का चार्ज लगेगा। इससे पहले ये ट्रांज़ैक्शन फ्री थे। हालांकि, दोस्तों को पैसे भेजने या छोटे अमाउंट के पेमेंट पर कोई चार्ज नहीं होगा। इस खबर से Paytm जैसे फिनटेक शेयरों में थोड़ी तेज़ी आई। सरकार मर्चेंट बिज़नेस से रेवेन्यू बढ़ाना चाहती है।
